​​Beginner or advanced? Take your playing to the next level! Get fun and engaging lessons with an industry professional with a passion for teaching. 

Sam is an experienced guitar tutor with over 20 years playing experience. He works with students of all ages and abilities and creates lessons that are fun and accessible. He has extensive teaching experience in primary and secondary schools. Having worked with students of all ages/abilities through his own private practice Sam is equally equipped in helping beginners and advanced players alike. Outside of teaching, Sam performers professionally in multiple jazz ensembles. He has a first class degree in music and thrives to help each student reach their fullest potential in a fun and rewarding way. 

Improvisation and Jazz 


Sam does not just teach guitarists. He has worked with saxophonists, bassists, pianists, singers and brass players to help them develop improvisation skills. Sam teaches improvisation in a jazz context.

Intermediate/Advanced 


Sam takes on intermediate/advanced students and is particularly skilled in helping rock, classical and blues guitarists develop skills in jazz improvisation and harmony. A great choice for those guitarists who are already playing great, but, want to have a better understanding of fretboard harmony and develop a more professional skill set.

Beginners 


Sam enjoys working with beginner guitarists. Learn solid foundations, get to grips with guitar in a fun, rewarding and structured way.

Younger Learners 


A large amount of Sam's teaching has been with younger students. He normally recommends children start from year 3 onwards. He is very patient and makes lessons fun and engaging. He is experienced in recognising different learning needs and helping students with learning difficulties like dyslexia.

RGT Grade 8 (distinction)
